I am lucky to play with many fine musicians here in this region of France. One of whom is, David Roy who plays keyboard and whistles in our band, Celtiqua. As well as being a school music teacher he is also Director of the Chorale, Descartimento which is based in Descartes (yes - there is a connection to the philosopher, Descartes).
This year was the 30th Anniversary of the choir and David Roy has been the director for all that time. He was clearly a “jeune homme” when he started, at least that's what the choir told me .
Celtiqua was pleased to play at the start of Descartimento’s 30 year celebrations with a concert and a Folk Dance.
This “CONCERT à déguster pour les 30 ans de la Chorale DESCARTIMENTO”, came at the end of the year's celebrations.
The programme was constructed as if it was a restaurant menu -
Mises en bouche; Délices d’Italie; Les Petit Plat; etc.
………and there were suitably themed songs within each section.
For example:-
Chanson à Boire
Pattapizza
Les Micro-Ondes
J’aime le chocolat
Rhum Pomme
To name but a few.
This concert was more than just special as the choir had undertaken a collaboration with a player of a “Barrell Organ” or “Orgue de Barbarie”, Patrick MATHIS.

The synchronising of a choir of many voices with a mechanical musical instrument is a most exacting task. The choir managed wonderfully with many multi-syllable phrases which were declaimed with clarity and precision. Well done to the director for accomplishing this synchronisation so well.
Thank you to Descartimento, and Patrick MATHIS, for this engaging concert of music and fun. (Sorry we missed the first 20 years !!)
